Got into silly argument with crazy guy ... later when outside on tiled entrance veranda to the restaurant - he hit me and my feet just went from under me and BHAM I was down.
Couldn't stand .. nothing ... most excruciating pain ever ...total screaming pain.

Carried yo car and home ... thinking all will be ok.

2 days of excruciating pain and then cannot move ...

Ambulance ... Hospital ... Xrays / CT Scan ...

Compressed fracture of 3rd Lumbar Vertebrae.

So I'm carted off to spinal injury dept.

I have choice :

1. Strapped up and no g'tee of mobility or success
or
2. Plaster cast and again no g'tee
or
3. 3000 Euros operation where they insert needle tube and glue the vertebrae closed (not available via Govt Health).

The problem is that 1 and 2 are extreme long term and any complication could lead to spinal cord or nerve damage.

So empty 'piggy bank' ... next day into op.

When I came round ... amazing ... spine was just dull ache but ok. But left hip and Knee still terrible pain due bruised bones.

The evening - they force me to try the walking frame .... OWWWWWWWWW !!! But I have to get things moving.

Next day I'm home ... but its very painful, hard to move around my house ...

Its going to be a slow process - but at least I have no paralysis or other complications.

I am considering looking at compensation against Restaurant for their unsafe tiled entrance ... have to talk to someone - get advice.
Refueler, I feel for you, I really do...I know what backache is like...and no one likes operations and we all truly sincerely hope you make a speedy and full recovery....and all the pizz-take is just to cheer you up....honest???

Bad times Refueler, what an ordeal. I hope you make a steady recovery.

I guess you regret getting into whatever fracas it was. It sounds like most on here have never made any misjudgements, nor suffered serious consequence. I’ll be watching for any misfortune that comes their way and I’ll be sure to stick the boot in and laugh at them when it happens. No fraternity on this forum, obviously.

It's not the misfortune if getting decked by someone classifies as that, it's the farcical attempt at passing the blame onto someone else with a flimsy excuse for so doing.

Whatever happened to polite disagreement? I don’t think he should sue the floor for hitting him either but I sympathise that he’s seriously injured which is, unless I’m mistaken, the important bit.

Whatever happened to common sense and indeed honesty.

I'm sure that Refueler is in distress, and would benefit from having fewer idiotic remarks thrown at him. For any case to be brought forward, I'd guess that if there was video from a restaurant security camera, it might be beneficial.
Refueler, it's also possible that any action that you consider, or take, might be due to a presumed cathartic reaction?
Whatever; you know best yourself, and I only wish you a swift and full recovery. (y)
I don’t doubt his distress, and also wish him s speedy recovery. Even if he is an argumentative, stubborn old bugger, it's a pretty weak excuse for knocking someone over with a punch.

Sorry for your accident. It will take longish but I expect you will recover completely.

My wife - then 82 years old - skidded on the bathroom floor and got a lumbar vertebra fractured/compressed. No operation; she had to wear for four monthes an orthopedical corset whenever standing or sitting, not when laying. She now leads a totally normal life. The only precaution: she must not lift heavy wheights.
I tell this story to lighten your spirits and make you look hopefully to the future.

I wish you a good healing.

And on that subject, @Refueler should replace his current anchor with an aluminium Fortress.

Not all aluminium anchors are light. Personally I have always been against 'bigger is better'. Size, small enough, matters

?

Take care, especially when 'on the tiles'.

be/go out on the tiles

As the image is there, the chains used too secure the armoured vehicles are high tensile (less weight) Armorgalv coated (for longevity)
