I have the Boatie tidal App on an iPhone and find it really useful - trying to put it on an Android phone but can't see it on Google Play? Is it no longer available?

I noticed that too.
Probably because it doesn't work and I suspect that like me there are a lot of very unhappy people that have paid for a product that doesn't work. The problem (which they must have known about) is that there isn't a menu button that allows the user to select things e.g. ports etc..... and effectively renders the application useless. It appears to load and run ok, but when you start to use it you would soon see that there is a BIG problem. Works great on iPhone, but Android users were ripped off by this company selling a product that clearly doesn't work on most popular android phones.

In the very bottom right corner there is three dots above each other. It's on the bottom navigation bar bit. Tap the three dots and a option will appear to select a port.

Not on my Samsung Galaxy Edge there isn't. For instance if I go to tides I get Portsmouth and no option to select anything else. If I want to change it I need a Menu button, except many (most) phones don't have one any more. If I go to weather I get Selsey Bill to Lyme Regis. There is no option available to change that either. Compass options? Nope you need a menu button for that as well. There are not any dots to press on my phone, but I know what you are suggesting as the vertical dots are a common thing for options on other apps.
I have searched the internet and there are loads of complaints from people in the same position, although I have to admit that was a while ago as I gave up after concluding that it just doesn't work. There are attempts at workarounds using a floating menu or trickery with multiple pressing of the home button. Occasionally somebody gets a workaround for their particular phone, but the bottom line is the product doesn't work as advertised. I suspect that is why the company selling it has removed it from the Play Store - or maybe it's been removed for them by Google due to the complaints. I am speculating as I really don't know why it's been removed. Maybe a nice bit of PR from the manufacturer would be to fix the problem and give us all a replacement FOC.
It's a really pity as it's a great app on the iPhone, which is why I bought it again for my new phone.

When you launch the app and go to tides.... directly below the button you pushed for tides is there the android navigation bar. The Nav bar has a square symbol in the middle, a left arrow symbol on the right, and on the far right it has three black vertical dots. Tap the three dots to see the menu for selecting ports.
If you don't see the nav bar then it has been set in android to be hidden. I think with your phone you just slide your finger up a little from the bottom of the screen.
Also, make sure you have the latest version... I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 the menu is definitely there.
It is a useful app and it did have a problem with the menu which is why you see stuff about it when your search, but the latest version did fix it for me

I got it recently for Samsung Galaxy and it seems to work fine to me.

I can find the 3 dots for Ports but cannot get the weather forecast to update!

Go to weather, then select inshore forecasts.... Now tap the three dots and the menu will have a option to tap 'Select Region'

Thanks for trying to help Seafox67 which is appreciated, but unfortunately the app just doesn't work on my phone. I know the nav menu you refer to as my 3 x android tablets have that menu bar as does my wife's Lenovo phone. My Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge doesn't have that nav bar. It is running Android v8.0 and is fully updated. I don't think that the nav bar is hidden. I just don't think it's on the phone. Or if it is it's buried somewhere beyond any searching that I have done. Glad to hear it's working on your device. As you say it's a great app. My complaint isn't with the app as such. After all I have it on my iPhone and it's great. I just don't think I and many others should have been sold an app that was never going to work correctly on their phones and they knew that. I tried to raise the issue with them, but they just ignored me.
Amulet. Out of interest what model of Samsung Galaxy phone have you got? It's interesting to hear it's working on your phone.
Now that this has popped up in my mind again, I checked out the MoJoSo web site and the same info is still there demonstrating that they knew there was a problem. The last paragraph perhaps says it all!
"On Android you use the hardware 'menu' button to - for example - change port or weather area.
That's because the original approach for Android was say all devices had a hardware menu button for that type of usage. Of course as soon as we'd released Boatie the advice changed and new Android phones don't now have a hardware button.
Or do they? It turns out that most - if not all - provide a software menu button to maintain compatibility with older apps like Boatie. For example, on the Samsung S5 if you press and hold the task switcher button it acts as the menu button.
To find the specific trick for your particular phone I suggest that you google using the make and model of phone and 'menu button' as search terms.
The next major update of Boatie will have a complete design change to provide the menu choices on screen as with the IOS version. It will also drop support for the very early versions of Android and older phones."

If I tap the 3 dots I get "refresh content" and "about".
Refresh doesn't work so my forecast is always for 28th Oct, goodness knows what year!
This is latest version of Android on a Google Nexus phone.

It sounds like you did not select one of the options like 'Inshore Forecasts'...
So, select the weather icon, then select 'Inshore Forecasts'... now tap on the three dots.
Do you see 'Select Region' in the menu options?

I recommend Absolute Tides. Really super little app which costs nothing except the tidal info for the year (about £3 IIRC).
Gives a tidal curve for your selected port, with a live scroll function (similar to Neptune Tides).
You can also place a widget on your phone’s home screen to give you an instant snapshot of heights. You can configure your port with custom offsets to take account of local anomalies, as well as setting keel depth to give an instant display of the depth as it applies to your boat.
There is a built-in streams display as well, which replicated the tidal stream atlas for a given area, already adjusted for local time against HW Dover.
Works brilliantly on Android, even for phones with no home button. Highly recommended. No ties, etc., just a satisfied user.
