Boat Transporter

Drive it to SoF then £5k truck. Ship will be more than €10k

John, boat is eastern side of Italy, what's mileage to south of france from top east side of Italy, boats a v48 with the earlier 480 hp engines in, so 6 k lorry and lifts but what about fuel burn? Crane gets a good 1 mpg from his v48.

Before anyone gets excited I've not sold mine yet but could be tempted to off load it if this baby came up.

Via a westbound run along top of scicily, then up E side of sardinia, which I think is the preferred and most pleasant route, it is 1250nm and the longest open sea leg is no more than 170nm so you'll have no fuel/range problems. That 1250 gets you to La Rague where a crane out onto the lorry is only €200, as JimmyTB will confirm. You'd wanna spend 6 days on the trip plus hold ups for weather I guess

Assuming you want to get it back to blighty, sounds like the cheapest/easiest way might be by truck from Portoroz. I've used Van de Wetering in Loosedrecht,Holland a couple of times and they regularly do Slovenia & Croatia.Last time I used them in 2009 they had 50 low loaders moving over 120 loads a week including many of the SoF runs. They can be quite competitive especially if you are prepared to tie-in with a return trip - most will be heading south at the moment, presumably. I would think their best price would be to Belgian coast. Might be worth the cost of a call and save a chunk of your valuable time as well as some money.

Yep, and I can give you the contact details for the person at LR you need to talk to in order to get everything booked. They were super-helpful for me last week.

However, 6 days ain't going to do it. My recent experiences suggest that if you are boating around the SoF you will need to allow at least two extra days to stop off in Port Vauban, have dinner in the Transat with a load of forumites, then retire to a convenient local boat, crack open a bottle of vino collapso or several, and suddenly realise that it is 4am... you know it makes sense.

Cheers
Jimmy

I'll second V d Wettering. I used them to transport my old Ferretti 46 from Holland to Port St Loius in SoF. They were excellent and everything was included in the price including lift/launch and putting the flybridge together. The driver even stayed behind to help get the a/c working. Couldn't ask for more
