I had a quote last summer from MJA Movements in St Ives (the one in Cambs not the one in Cornwall) to move my boat from the Ouse to Ramsgate and to lift on and off their trailer by HIAB but at 3.5 ish tons they thought it was too heavy to lift it out of the water and back in again. They quoted me then £55 hour for the truck with HIAB. So guess you can do a quick mental calc knowing roughly how long the journey will take then add an hour each end for loading and unloading? Oh and I think they charge for the round trip. May be worth a call though. Tel 01480 464748

I used Robert Page & Son in Hook, Hants 3 months ago to move a Buckingham 25 to Twickenham. Cost £352 inc vat. Not a specialist boat mover but I found them very good. You can call him on 01256 762428.

You don't say what sort of boat, but when I moved mine (30') I first rang boat movers then tried local haulage co - MUCH cheaper, and insured just the same - came with the biggest Hi-ab I've ever seen. Suggest you try some of them as well - the first one I rang said "we don't do boats". Next day, my wife was ringing around for me and got the same firm - who then gave us the best quote and got the job! Seeing as they are up here in NE England, no point in giving you their names- but would certainly suggest considering non-boat transporters as well. Saved me a lot.

hi,Glen
isn,t it funny how somtimes it seem like a small world, just read your post, thanks for the advise.
While there visited your web site, very nice boat and lovely mooring. On the picture of evening shot,if i,am not mistaken the nearest boat is a 23ft colvic sports fisher...the very boat i need moving!!.
Anyway have found a company who will move her with a 4/4 on a trailer at very reasonable rate 115miles,£240 all in.
