Hi, I have just purchased my first boat a Hurley 22 and I’m looking forward to restoring her back to her former glory. My difficulty is how to transport the boat home from Portsmouth to Lincolnshire. I have a 4x4 that is capable of tow the boat home and have found several company’s in south of England that I can hire a trailer from, but this would require me making the journey twice. What would be ideal is if I could hire a trailer that is capable of accommodate the keel or a flat bed trailer that also came with cradle in the Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire or south Yorkshire area.

Hi alexrunic,

Thank you for your help I will contact them, although I’ve look on their web site and it looks like their trailer is too big to tow behind my car.

Hi chinita, thank you its good suggestion I am going to build a trailer like this in the future to store the boat over winter, but unfortunately I’ve used most of my savings buying the boat and I’m trying to find the cheapest option to bring the boat home.

It's remarkably unlikely you'll stumble across just the right trailer, let alone a flat bed with a cradle which happens to fit ( and what would the fuel consumption on that be ?! ) I suspect a return trip with a hired one, especially if you've determined it is suitable for car and boat, will end up the best option.

Hi Seajet, unless anyone else has any suggestions I think it my best option. Just can’t believe that no company in my area is hiring this kind of trailer.

Wow - dragging up a 5 year old thread - nice move !!
If you want to expand your fleet have a look a the old Sheffield Marine site at the top of Shepcote Lane. Several trailers have been parked there since they shut down and I bet you could get them for a song - but they will need a lot of work. One of them has an old W25 on it!
p.m. me if you want a description of where they are
Martin
