Boat still ashore?

My boat is still ashore as bad weather and a wait for a new mooring stop its launch.
Am I alone or is it too much to expect by the end of April as we are battered by winds gusting to storm force and horizontal rain?

We are too; the yard have a little work to finish.

I'm not overly annoyed about it though - it's freezing out there.

I don't know where you are but this weekend just gone (in the Southwest) was lovely - 12kts breeze, bright sunshine and not unpleasantly cold. We must take every weather chance that we have in this country!

I go in on Friday; a lot of boats are still out of the water around me.

Saturday was fantastic, Sunday was rather gloomy.

Yes, boat still on the hard, as the launch has been cancelled three times due to the wind. Next launch date for me is 7th May due to tide and work constraints, but that will still be earlier than last year. I was ready to go before this wind arrived but the cradle was already booked up.

Cancelled launch as we too had sideways rain, gusting F8, Easterly and the maiden voyage to contemplate down a narrow tidal river, then a cross Falmouth Bay, basically bashing into the wind for the first bit.

Haven't had the main up yet, let alone reefed! So "wimped" out!

Crane and enough Tide on Wednesday now. Weather looks better!

Launched on Thurs 28 March, couldn't get onboard over Easter but have been on boat / sailing each weekend since Making up for lack of use last season!!

Going to be an unusually late start to the season for us... in the middle of a house move and currently studying full time away from home... looking at mid to late June

Going back in tomorrow after mId sized refit. 11 week project took 3x budget and 6 months. But I am happy with the end result. Only 3 more weekends and we should be ready to get out again.

Our lift-in is scheduled for 11th May: here in Helsinki the sea ice is only just starting to melt!

Anyway, ignore all them. We're still ashore, if it's any consolation, and the jobs list just doesn't seem to get any shorter. Thought we were nearly there, but just discovered yesterday we need a new cutless bearing. (Why didn't I check that when we were lifted out, you may well ask!)

Try telling yourself you'll enjoy it all the more when you do finally get afloat! (Nah. Doesn't work for me, either!)

I think of it as banging my head against a brick wall - it WILL feel better when its over.

Left Eastbourne April 8th for my round Britain epic. Currently in Carrickfergus, near Belfast, and departing tomorrow for Port Ellen. As I am solo I would be very grateful if you would all stay out of the water for another 5 weeks or so, as I am enjoying the empty harbours, quiet pubs and restaurants, and great service everywhere, from harbour masters down to local pubs and restaurants, pleased to see a customer coming in.

Wow that's quite some pace you're going round it. Should be round before some people even get in the water!!
