I went on Tuesday. Visited the Sealine stand. They were most helpful and informative and were prepared to spend as much time as necessary to answer all my questions. I spoke to their Irish representative. I can't remember his name - my fault not his- but he did a first class job.

Re: oh come on!

Feeling a bit sorry for the boat show salespeople. the longest show I have ever doe nis 3 days. These are 10 ?) or more. Some want unfettered access to all boats and no salesman, others want assistance and so on. Course, if you askedfor help and were turned away, then that's no good, likewise if you expressed interest in a boat and then they ignored you, likewise that's no good either. But it would be a pity if you bought solely becase sealine more "attentive" whereas in fact they're selling a less solidly-built product with more margin for the salesman.

I have to agree, Sealine were helpful and seem to have a nice balance of leave you alone and assistance - bit different too my last experience. I was only interested to see the new S23 compared to my current S24 - and have to say they put their thinking caps on this time. I was very impressed in the improvements and extra space.

I went over to the S28 and explained that I would probably buy a used S28 - still got the helpful hand and even a mention of a discount on one of their used S28, at the same time it was suggest mine could be worth £5K more than I paid when new. I had to walk away before I was tempted - I only went to the show for a bits and pieces.

That did occur to me when the saleman explained the benefits of two engines. All I could see was my repair bills double. Mind you I now know what too look for, an expensive learning curve!

By the way still fighting the warranty issue, it has cost me £1000 to repair the sump (total £1800 with a service). They did find the turbo gasket leaking coolant which won't help on the corrosion front - gasket covered by warranty.

Hi Pauline,

Only one problem - the engine is still under the 3 year warranty and therefore at risk of losing it if I service it myself.

Secondly you are probably right that it is unlikely that two engines would go on the blink. However you are at risk of a failure on one of them each year with a regular annual repair bill - mind you that would not stop me having two engines.

Lastly I am okay doing maintenance myself like servicing etc, I've done it enough times on cars in the past - from simple service to the more serious jobs, but again I have to wait until the warranty finishes.

Believe me I don't like donating to the Volvo Fund! I tell you, the guys in the office think I'm mad (maybe right) owning a boat with what I've spent in the last year.
