Has anyone who has been to the boatshow been offered any good engine deals, namely diesels up to around 240hp? I am going on Thursday and am terrible at haggling or extracting pricing information from people. I didn't get much joy at S'ton except for list price and the feeling I should be grateful for that.

We got a pair of 180 sabres second hand but good, from info supplied by a sabre rep who was trying to sell new ones to the original owner, and could or would not meet the owner on price, but he let us have a go at him and we all got what we wanted.

Mike Bellamy on the Lancing Marine stand was willing to talk numbers, 'specially as he's the gaffer!
Seemed to have a vast selection of engines available and we had a long discussion about new Ford Puma which is the made in Turkey replacement 2.4L diesel for the old Transit 2.5. Ummmmmm scrumptious, now all I need is to get a job, rob a bank, murder the wife to get a pair!

I was also looking for engines at Southampton and was given prices by Perkins, Mermaid and IVECO at around £19,000 for a pair of 300hp less g'box.

IMHO you should be looking to get around 20% of list if not up to about 30% if they really want to shift an engine or two.
