Boat off mooring - salvage claim... Again?! Arrr!

I’ve been hardly following this thread as I find the principles of claiming money for rescuing someone else’s boat repugnant.

In this case, if I were the boat’s owner I would simply be forwarding your claim letters to my insurance. That is what he has insurance for.

I guess you’ll have to be the party that starts legal action, but if you arrest the yacht in the process you’ll also have to deal with the claim/action from the owner who, having recovered his property, will probably report you to the police for theft.

I’m sure Fatbeard can look forward to a messy and expensive situation where he could have made a friend and a few free beers.

wise words.

I sense some hostility from the back there. It's ok ... you're still grumbling ... I would only worry if you went silent.

Lets look at this situation from your perspective.

You own a boat.
You may be concerned about it's security.
You think "that could be me!"
And you attack!

OK... let's explore this...

You own a boat.
You go to lengths to position her where she suits your purposes.
Some arse allows his own boat go on a jolly without crew.
You are STUPID ENOUGH to intervene.
You post a salvage note ... just in case.
The owner ducks you for weeks (still dodging in fact one invoice came back).
They violate your landlord - and fail to recognise the word "neap" hence fail to remove the boat ... all with still no phone call or text.
Once they finally remove the thing, without a call still ... you get a text message that is all innocence, full of lies, reeking of advice, with obvious collusion from his insurers (who incidentally are in for a shock).

Now tell me ... What would you do?

Think I have just lost the will to live, I just don’t care anymore, there is only so much c**p one can take in ones life and I think this thread has now provided me with a surfeit. ( If waffle be the food of the thread , then carry on; that surfeiting,
the appetitive may sicken and die) (apologies to Shakespeare.

What I would do is to stop at the part where I have intervened to save someone else's property, ie line 4 of your list (although I would only intervene if safe for me to do so and therefore in no way stupid). The rest is superfluous.

1. Unlikely to happen to me, as there is nowhere within a few miles of my house for 'travellers' to occupy

2. Completely irrelevant to this thread, as there is no link between travellers and salvage of a drifting boat

3. What's your residential status?

Good on them for taking their boat back. If it was mine, my initial impulse to thank you profusely for saving my boat would by now have turned completely to thoughts of violence.
You have a talent for entertaining writing, and I still think it's a troll. But underneath that are the common lounge traits of right wing selfsatisfied fascism.
I hope your endeavours in this matter are an unmitigated disaster.

Oops sorry YBW ... my finger may have slipped, again. /blush.

Steve ... yes ... part of me thinks that too. Violence rarely crosses my mind. You're kind to express enjoyment towards my writing. I have recently broken a 10 year + writer's block and am going through the earlier stuff looking for merit. It's pretty flat compared to what I am capable of producing today. However ... there are problems. I have neither the time or inclination to deal with the issues involved in self publishing. Also I am a pathalogically private individual in most cases. It stems from a need to be 'just another guy' ... one TV appearance breaks that.

CLB ... first thing you have said that I will agree with? YES! I will indeed enjoy that day. In terms of your 1.2.3... I'll pick 3... Why are you curious as to my residential status? In terms of my political beliefs you will have to guess.

he is probably curious about your residential status as it will undoubtedly provide for a huge blight on the value of neighbouring properties ;););)
My kids used to have a favourite childrens program on TV years ago, it was about a suburban street where a family of pirates moved in. very funny.. I think it was called Pirates - on the BBC

I like to think of it as a bonus for local buyers... and in the end I might move on?

I missed Pirates, but loved Captain Pugwash! And Noggin the Nogg (hes on youtube in spades by the way!)

if the insurance company do decide to go for you, this thread is going to provide them an awful lot of fodder regarding intent, timeline etc etc. One imagines they may already be on that trail. but it may be something you might wish to consider. I imagine the word they will be using is extortion. Get yourself clear of it all as cleanly as you can and put it behind you. If they decide to make an example of you then all bets are off. (except the one on all this being an entertaining fabrication)

It looks like fabrication, start to finish. Agreed.

But ... try and make up something sillier... if you are able, I might "buy it"!

Oi, that's rather mean to right wing self satisfied fascists.

Aha! If that book comes out on Amazing as a Kindle, I shall certainly read it - but only if I can download it for free.

Well done, FB, great entertainment. I think you are like an iceberg, and we only see what is above water.
