Well, boats with weirdo names, one has to go far to beat with sheer brass balls, Rodney Pattison: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in which of course he won 3 olympic medals (2 golds).
But for nice boats with a great names, it is difficult to beat 'Jolie Brise ', three times winner of the Fastnet Ocean Race, two times overall winner of Tall Ships Races.

Jolie Brise is/was a pilot cutter, I think (le Havre?)
Another lovely name for a pilot cutter - "Kindly Light" (now under restoration at Gweek Quay)
Saw a tart trap at the Moody second hand show one year which was called "Hello". Just imagine that name on the VHF. Seen similar boats called "business" and "the office" - no doubt so that the secretary could say "he's away on Business".
Kids want me to call the new boat "dads navy". No chance.
When I started sailing OK dinghies in the '60s there was one in the fleet called "Poppy Tupper". Took me a couple of season to work that one out as I were only an innocent lad!
Has anyone heard that boat names should end in 'A' for good luck. I hadnt heard this (tho my old boat was Ayesha) but a friend who is commissioning a H-R 40 swears this is true.
What does the team think?
