Boat names

Not a name exactly, but I liked it, except for the spelling mistake.

There's a boat currently parked at Burnham called "Roger the Cabin Boy II". It would take a brave man to give that out to the coastguard.

One I always liked that I saw down in the Caribbean was "Empty Pockets too".

And then there was a Fireball in Uganda made from packing cases which had, inscribed on its bottom, "Other way up".

(That's enough names, Ed)

A friend of mine has just bought a boat called 'Mr Tinkles.'

I think he plans to change it, but I like it.

Perhaps we should start a petition to keep the name as it is.

What do you think Alan??

In the early sixties I used to crew in an Enterprise at Hullbridge on the Crouch. She was called "Wylurear", and owned by a local GP (when attending a home- call for a specific ailment, he would invariably be asked all sorts of other questions "while your here").

I liked the rather tired looking little sloop, with peeling paint and brightwork, that I saw some years ago in Falmouth - "Maid of Ply".

I liiked the fireball called "Thud and Blunder".

I felt sorry for the sailboat called "Don't Panic" who had a small fire in the engine compartment and called a mayday to Solent Coastguard. It was just too tempting for them.

Not a yacht, but a coaster.

Used to know a pilot on the Colne/Blackwater (when coasters used to go all the way to Colchester)

Lots had odd names and one was called Kwak. No doubt it means something in a foreign tongue.

The pilots would do anything NOT to be the one to call her up on the radio...... /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

There's a Belgian beer called Kwak which is famously served in a funny glass on a wooden stand.

Thanks to all for names that I certainly won't be calling my next (if ever) boat.

I thought Kwak was a Belgian beer /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: Re: Various Positions.

There used to be a Westerly moored at Pin Mill called "OJONOTAGEN" I have always wondered about the derivation /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
