I suppose it has to be done so I throw myself at your mercy!

The boat I hope to buy has an OK name that means a lot to the chap who built her who also happens to be the chap selling the boat to me (but he sold it and bought it back in between).

The boat is a Cutlass 27. Part 1 registered (No 335906) and called KAROUISE after the chap's Daughters (by coincidence they were Karen & Louise).

Every time I try and say the name I struggle so don't think it is the name for me.

What are my options? (Not precious about keeping Part 1 registered unless folk consider it to be a big bonus)

Matthewrobinandrewben (after my 4 boys) seems a bit of a mouthful

My youngest has suggested:
Billy - after Billy Piper and not as in 'no mates' he assures me.
Storm Rider
Hermionie (we both like Harry Potter)

SWMBO has suggested:
Titanic
Millenium Falcon
Chewbacca
Pricess Leia
But I don't even like Star Wars.
That Bl**dy boat

No 3 son (just about to do GCSEs has suggested:
Verstopful (Constipation in German)

I have come up with:
Snickersnee
Cap'n Jack
Phoenix
Fawkes (to continue the HP theme) and then SWMBO could say 'he Fawkes off to the boat all the time'
Not sure I like Flipper 2 or Soulmate 2 after other boats I have owned.

Go on do your worse!

Still it's not as bad as Mr Tinkles is it! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Well I quite like Karouise!

A second vote for Karouise - at least I know where it has been for the last 10 years or so, and I am likely to remember it. It would also honour the first owner and builder - he liked it so much he owned it twice.

By the way, nice Cutlass 27 blog here.... http://ladyash70.blogspot.com/

Don't forget when choosing a name.... Say it out loud three times on the trot as if doing proper Radio procedure... And then think of the CG asking for you to spell phonetically.... That's why Gainsborough Lady became Gladys

I always think that Stormrider and the like are asking for trouble. How about Fingers Crossed or Try Again /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The problem with Karouise type names is that anybody hearing it doesn't automatically know how it is written. I only stuck with "Sabre" because it was short and easy. I quite like Billy.

There are two in Bradwell called "Kelloggs" and "Typhoo" both written as the brand name /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif "Fray Bentos" doesn't sound too bad /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
