Just a quick note to JFM to say thank you very much indeed for the viewing of such a stunning boat at the show on Friday. Forum visitor traffice seemed to be very steady and as mentioned she is probably the most popular boat at the show! Fairline were very accomodating too allowing all and sundry to view.

To add my thanks for the opportunity to view Match, truly even more magnificent in the GRP (flesh). Thanks too for the way that Fairline handled it. We were welcomed and allowed free rein to look all over in a way that would have been unimaginable for other builders. Certainly the best PR/Advertising that any boat builder could wish for.. Our guide was intimately acquainted with all the details, hope the furniture craftsman at Oundle managed to burn some midnight oil to make some new arms!
Sorry to miss the opportunity to meet you, but just as you were approaching , i think you were called back to the lounge area and we didn't want to harrass you.
BTW, Swmbo was wondering what the saloon carpet is?

Hi jfm,
Another grateful forumite adding to the list of thank you's.
Unfortunately we didn't get chance to say hello as you were clearly overwhelmed with visitors and I didn't want to interrupt, but nonetheless it was a priviledge to be able to see such a boat, as well as understand why it is the way it is.
I was surprised having seen the many photos posted on here that even so they didn't do it justice when seeing it "live". It really was stunning.
It was clear that all the design customisations were with an eye for using it and living with it rather than mere showroom appeal; in fact those sort of things give it more showroom appeal to people like me.
Two questions which came to me on looking in the crew quarters and the engine room.
I was surprised that the engines didn't appear to be intercooled. Is this normal in marine diesels? Aren't there efficiency consequences from this? Or have I missed something.
And the cross beam crew berth appeared to be rather short. Do I take it you employ diminutive crew members, or was it an optical illusion?

Hi Trundlebug. sorry not to meet you; it was quite busy as you said!
The charge air to the C32 engine is aftercooled, by seawater heat exchangers. They're the big black boxes with Cat logo, right on the top of each engine
Yes the crossways berth is a bit shorter. I don't recall the length but it's about 5 foot 8. It's a compromise I was happy to make as it allowed the bigger exhausts needed for the bigger-than-standard (3.3litre engine) gensets, and remember that cabin converts (in a complex way) to a double so 2 people can have a 6 foot double bed in that cabin, or there is a 3rd crew bed in front of the laundry that is 6 foot long. But to be honest that bed is suited to a girl who is less than five-eight! Overall, with that cabin and utility area, I reckon the crew are getting a good deal

Wow! It was indeed a delight to have you show me the inner workings of the boat - I simply find it astonishing that it was really only days ago when you posted the hull being formed.
I again congratulate you and Fairline for a wonderful job with the 'little' tweeks that you have made - very interesting to compare your boat with your commentary to my memory of the SIBS craft.
I have to say again those internal stairs with downlights are outstanding. Every time you enter the boat you know you will grin broadly and same when coming up from the cabins - its views like this that you live for ready. Wonderful!
I ahve to say too that the array of commercial grade galley and 'hotel service' stuff is fab, as is the B&O stuff that i understand you attempted to bust - actually youj had a good try on Friday morning first thing I recall.

'Course, with your recent experience of surgery, it should be a straightforward job to take a 100mm section out of the lower legs of any applicants who are too tall. After a basic cut and shut and a few months recuperation, they should be fine.
Tsk BJB, it's all about proportion man. You can't have someone's bum a quarter of the way up their body height. They'll walk like penguins. No, they'll just have to sleep in the double bed

Hi Jfm, It was good to finally meet you, Boat is a masterpiece IMO, which Sam won't shut up about, so I think that & your words of encouragement certainly helped focus his mind. He's in the study as I write going through Physics & Chemistry papers to get them out of the way. He can then concentrate on his step papers for maths. I wont tell you what the final clothes bill was

Only just got home so, like mjf, sorry for the delay.
But thouroughly enjoyed meeting you and seeing round your fab new boat.
Really liked the internal stairs - boat builders should take note.
Still cant understand the logic of not having one.
Even in port, the internal stairs integrate the flybridge with the galley.
We often eat on the FB and prepare food downstairs.
Anyway, hopefully we will get to see her on the water at Easter - maybe.

hi jfm....had the chance to see your "ship" for myself today (monday). the show in general was very quiet so when i arrived at the fairline stand, in my sealine hat n coat, the very desirable young lady said, "are you with the forum? if so please go straight on board"!!!!!!!!!! i was shown the whole craft by a very knowledgable chap (whos name i wrote down and then left the piece of paper on a restaunt table) all unhurried....your attention to detail is magic. my guide said you spent more time at the factory than the employees!!!!!.....i dont think HMS ark royal has an electric circuitbreaker cabinet like that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....i asume that every single item is monitored from there ??.. in conclusion thanks to both you n fairline for the chance to crawl over your new pride n joy and wishing you n yours safe n happy cruising.........ps. if your ever stuck for crew i am more than happy to sleep in between the engines !!!!

I, too had the pleasure of looking over Match today in the peace and quiet of a Monday!! Shown around by a very helpful Fairline chap who's an engineer but I forget his name.
JFM what a lovely piece of kit you have there, the customisation and colour choice's elevates it up from a 'production' boat feel and make it feel like a custom built boat. It's clearly a boat specified by a very experienced boater and you should be proud as punch with your's and Fairline's effort.
Enjoy for many nautical miles........

I have followed this thread each week and to see the boat complete is fantastic - she is wonderful! It was also good for Mrs P to have a chat with your mum - it would appear they have lots in common re Ireland.
I was also amazed at Fairline, who this year seem to be welcoming to everyone and even though I had made an appointment previous to my visit (as I did not want to miss out on the opportunity to see the boat), it was not needed. Well done Fairline. Now I will consider their boats in the future rather than disgard them for their poor service.

Same kit as Mr Bluesky Pred 92. Works well but dont loose or twist the devils claws as it a nightmare to get new ones. I hit up rather than down and bent a claw still trying for a replacement.
