Boat in build pics (2013 Fairline Squadron 78)

Remember with shipping covers it isn't just a cost thing. Lots of the kids who staff up some boat dealerships aren't that organised and call the cover people 2 days before shipping to ask for the cover, by which time it is too lste. The manhattan 73 wanted a cover but the dealer/shipper asked so late that it wasn't possible. She is also going to Genoa so I'll see how dirty she is on arrival

These covers (made by the excellent Drift covers, in Bournemouth, contact Dan McGee)are carefully done things and Nautical your story about a cover ripping at sea wouldn't happen with one of these Drift covers. They are much stronger than shrinkwrap AND they are covered with a net which is their killer feature to stop them ripping. Pictures below, and remember the boat is covered in 150mm wide low tack thick plastic tape on all the edges and touchpoints, before the cover is put on

Good to see that Fartline have finally updated their 1980's topsides

Match 2 has arrived safely in Gib with her covers still on. Just looking out the window and can see her. Looks like they are unloading a Hardy/Aquastar type boat but difficult to see with no binoculars or camera with zoom (Hence no pictures). Looks like nearly every other boat on her is a Princess!

Thanks Paul - great spying!

Alas you cannot see her on the webcam. If the camera that is looking at the cruise ship would just pan to the left you'd see her - she is in front of the rust coloured ship in the foreground

IIRC the boats aft of Match are the ones that get off in Gibraltar. About 5 boats. They are all single crane lift jobs. A sunseeker 62 pred, a workboat catamaran of some sort, a couple of V series plus one flybr Princesses

Glad to hear my cover is ok. There were headwinds around Brest, very little wind in biscay, and for the whole Coruna-Gib run there have been 20kt tailwinds pushing the ship along so the cover should be fine and might have done a great job in keeping the ship's exhaust crud off my boat

Big shipment to Turkey no doubt ;)

Well, as anyone following this thread perfectly knows, I've not always been condescending towards FL and jfm choices.
Besides, the Sq78 is very far from my ideal boat, in her size/cost bracket.
All that said, yours could easily win a "useless comment of the month" context, imho.
May I ask what sort of boat do you have, that you wouldn't swap for this ugly bit of 80's design?

Glad to hear my cover is ok.
OK?!? You must be joking, J.
I posted my previous comments on the possible cons of covers before seeing your pics of it.
That's easily the best boat cover I've ever seen, I bet it could withstand also the worst winter winds.
I can imagine that its cost is not far from my total yearly boating budget, but there's a proportion in everything, I guess... :)

Just walked down to get closer...but forgot my Phone to get pictures! 2 Boats off and on the third, Match 2 covers are perfect and other boats without covers all look OK from a distance. All very well strapped down and a very professional outfit! Good choice of carrier so far. Weather is hot and sunny with just a slight chop...if I had longer would jump on my boat and get some pictures but I unfortunately have to still work for a living.

:D :D It is a very fine cover MapisM, full marks to Dan at Drift covers. BTW, in answer to an earlier question, the net is not bonded. They apply the cover made from white plastic material, THEN they put the single piece of net over the whole thing and pull it tight, to protect the cover from ripping in the wind and to remove any stress from the seams in the cover. Smart way to do it imho

Much less than your boating budget MapisM :D A little bit under £1400

When it gets to Genoa I've got to remove the whole thing and fold it into a small enough parcel to fit on my aft deck (unless i find a convenient poubelle/skip just sitting there...). Quite a big job I can tell you. I'm praying for a dry day with no wind!

Keep the net and trawl for tuna on the way home from Genoa?? :D

Cheers
