Hi All,

I'm planning a trip to Japan and Korea with my sailing daughter and we are looking for an opportunity to hire something, maybe just a small power boat or yacht.

Has anyone any experience of this? I can see there is an exam to sut for a local licence but most tests seem to be in Japanese so that's not so good.

Any info is useful.

Thanks, All.

Max.

I think you will struggle language-wise. My experience of South Korea is that no-one speaks English, altogether very difficult. They used to say the same about Japan, but at least so far as Tokyo and Kyoto is concerned those involved with tourism now seem to use english. The underground for example has ticket machines in english, matrix signs on the underground trains show station name in english etc, but outside the main tourist trails I expect the going would be tough. ----- but maybe you speak Japanese?
