Hi All

Been without a boat for a year now and really missing it so was thinking next year hiring one in Holland. Any advise would be appriciated. Would be for me the wife and teenage daughter and the dog. We will be driving via Eurotunnel.

Thanks very much

There's some useful info in the current issue of MBM on chartering abroad.

Also, Blakes are very good, I think they have some boats for hire in Holland but couldn't guarantee it.

Hope this helps

MBM charter edition

www.yachtcharter-vanstraten.nl
We used this company, based in the beautiful Friesland Lakes area round Sneek. Following our very pleasing experience, our yacht club chartered 6 boats in place of their annual cross channel cruise in company. They too were delighted.
Service superb, boats 1st class (better than a lot of private boats) and area beautiful.
Cost high season is around €2k pw, but see website for exact numbers and details of boats.

No link other than very satisfied, very fussy, customer.
Enjoy.

Take a look at www.aquanaut.nl who are also based in Sneek. No financial interest in their charter operation but you could always view the quality of the product here at Bray Marina prior to departure.

Thanks for the info, Mike did you go via Calais if so how long is the drive to Sneek, Looks quite a long drive.
Most of my searches come up with this area. Are there any charter companies in southern Holland?

Thanks Chill

Charter S Holland

We did Harwich/ Hoek van Holland ferry overnight with a cabin. Very civilized. Arrived Holland quite early but refreshed and looking forward to a very pleasant 2 hour drive up to Sneek.
I found no material cost benefit in tunnel vs Harwich/Hook and a large benefit in driving time.
We had done S Holland in our own boat so did not research availability. I am sure there will be charter companies.
At the risk of getting up Trundlebug's nose, there is no comparison in quality between the boats offered by Crown Blue Line and those with either van Straten or Aquanaut. Sorry.

None taken!

I can see your point, as the difference would appear to be between charter companies and boat hire companies. A subtle but distinct difference, depending upon budget and personal preference.

The Haines based hire boats we've had in the past from Crown Blue Line have been very good and comfortable, but not the kind of spec you would get if buying a boat from Haines direct, whereas from looking at the steel boats for charter they seem to be "private" spec. You pay for it of course.. depends upon how fussy you are for your week or fortnight break!
