I think there is another version of that video with the approach from sea. The vessel enters does the turn, then drops the anchor and the rest you see here.

The brake on the anchor windlass must be reliable! Good stuff.

I think the master should post here and explain why he didn’t use 2 snubbers in a bridle formation, with each leg a different diameter. Clearly an amateur.

In my brief carrera in the coasting trade many a time we had to drop anchour to execute a 180degree turn in a river the trick was to get the donkey engine going before so once turned the anchour could be smartly weighed,considering my total lack of training the skipper had total faith in my judgement as with the donkey running and the chainrattling out it was freneticactivit
