Interesting. Must admit I've only tried a Mod Sine Wave inverter.

If an expensive sine wave inverter is required, isn't cheaper to buy a 12v compressor fridge in the first place?

I've got a 7000 Btu/hr air con unit aboard. I try and run it with a Kippor 3000ti inverter generator. This really struggles to get the compressor going, have to run it with the 'smart throttle' off. Once the compressor is running it's fine. Trouble is thermostat cuts in and out so poor genny leaps around all over the place.

These thermally controlled smart fans might be a simpler way to go...

[/ QUOTE ]Interesting but "4 pin power connector and a separate signal connector to the motherboard" Hmmm needs further investigation.

[/ QUOTE ]Sine wave invertors are not that expensive IMHO however domestic fridges do seem to run on modified sine wave.

The Kipor 3000ti is 2.3 kva cont. or 2.6kva peak. If the overload protection is not tripping you seem to be near the the limit of the unit's output. I have a 3000ti but no aircon so it only feeds the charger, immersion heater, fridge, and TV when running (sometimes the ice maker) so no really heavy starting loads. If running near the limit I also switch off the smart throttle - helps with the "jumping" although I must admit I have notnoticed any problem except near full load (slight overload).

It a standard PC power connector. There will be a +12,
earth, then one (or maybe 2) to send status back to the PC such as the rotation speed that can be shown on the PC screen. Most likely one pin will not be connected.
