Boat delivery to the sea (with pics)

I can't see any photos. Instead a get a photobucket image in place of every photo saying your bandwidth has been used up and upgrade. Why would I get these and no-one else?

P, N and others, there is a thought. Maybe a forum mini-cruise for volunteers in August/September. Might not be easy to arrange due to timetables, etc. though...
That's not just a good idea K, it's a fantastic one! Many thanks for the offer, regardless of whether it'll be feasible to make it happen or not.
Myself and S would be more than happy to volunteer, and we'll be available anytime from Aug 20th onward.
Actually, I'm not sure we would join also for dives, if any (as you possibly remember, S rates as freezing cold any water below 25° ir so... :)), but hopefully we could make up for that as fender monkeys and with food preparation...!

PS: in the meantime, of course our invitation still stands, in case you would find at least a few days for a Med taste!

K,
You know me, I don't need much pushing to go with an idea :D I'll start packing now :p

If you guys are being serious, I'll check with the club I'm with now for a berth for August. Shouldn't be a problem.

However, I feel that to set the expectations I should bring to your attention that the accommodation on my boat is rather more modest than on Bart's fine yacht. In practice this means that four people sleep comfortably, fifth gets the pullout berth in the saloon, sixth would be camping on the saloon floor (which I'm happy to do if needed). For space reasons and as diving here is spectacular if you like cold and dark waters with very little to see, my suggestion would be to leave the diving gear home and concentrate on exploring the coastline (with maybe a visit to Vyborg?). The weather can also be anything.

Let's see if we could put it together?

K,
Just like you... I need nothing more than an excuse to be on the water, regardless of where in the world it is. If flights worked out, time off work shouldn't be an issue.

Just like a fine chef once told me, "never criticise someones cooking if they've invited you into their home and cooked for you" - Similar goes with boats. One should be grateful and flattered to be invited, whether it's a 21ft day boat, or ship like Blue Angel! My boat is smaller than yours, and we've had plenty of fun piling in people. You shouldn't need to worry re. accom - surely we'll be in areas with local accom. available which would suit. That takes the pressure off the skipper and still affords you the comfort of your own vessel.

I think my main constraint will be flights, so see how things work out.

Re. Diving - Yes, I agree... your area is similar to mine... nice for cruising but I wouldn't put it on my 'must do' for diving.

Absolutely +1, I couldn't have said it better.
Of course, don't take that as an obligation K, but also from my part, more than happy if we can make it happen, regardless of the type of accomodation! :)

Nice story scubaman; thanks for posting all that. Great pictures as usual. Interesting to hear first hand about crossing the Russian borders. Your boat is looking great
