Any one out there who has the web address of west marine, or any others who export to the UK. And where can one go for information on import duties?

Thanks

Peter

I've imported stuff from West Marine, good people to deal with. Import duties seem to be added by the carrier (who presumably has to pay them). I've never been able to find out how they are calculated, but they are always small alongside VAT.

West Marine used to have a page on their site that explained how it worked and how much it costs. I've bought a couple of things and it's quick, easy and cheaper, as long as you look carefully at what you are buying.

I have found some stuff is cheaper in France and carries the benefit of being CE marked, which is important if you are going to France because the French Customs will happily fine you if they discover that the equipment you are using is not "approved".
