We acquired a new (to us) boat at the end of last year and have pottered around a bit in it. Although from as young as I can remember I've always had (or had use of) a boat and done the winter RYA courses etc, I thought that having been off the water for a few years a bit of instruction to get back up to speed might be a good idea. Being based in ECM and having Tim on the doorstep as it were (and having heard nothing but good things about him), I spent last Friday on the boat with him going over the engines and nav gear and doing a spot of ferry gliding. I could not have had a better time. He's an excellent teacher, very patient with those of us who are old enough to remember what happened 20 years ago but where 20 minutes ago is a bit of blur and clearly has a great depth of expertise and experience. The key thing though is the way he puts things over - simple clear explanations and a good sense of humour.
So thank you Tim for a great day and if anyone here is thinking of having a spot of own boat tuition, I can thoroughly recommend Tim Griffin of this parish. I have no personal connection, just a very satisfied punter who is looking forward to the next day of instruction on the boat.
