BMC Commander with manual gearbox (Newage/Parsons). It looks as if an oil leak has developed between the gearbox & engine, clean oil so most likely gearbox input oil seal. Cannot find any illustration or breakdown schematic of this area anywhere as I might be able to remove gearbox in position if I am sure what to expect. Does anyone have experience of this or access to breakdown drawings of this area as cannot be sure if the gearbox splits from the engine with bell housing housing attached or does the gearbox have to be removed from the bell housing first, leaving the bell housing on the engine.

Try Lancing Marine in Shoreham for advice and maybe a workshop manual for the old Parsons boxes,I got one from them years ago, they are still there I believe, cheers Jerry.

Also Chertsey Marine have supplied me with parts for my BMC 2.2 engine. They have been very helpful with advice.

Your engine is widely used in canal boats and it may pay you to look at websites and suppliers for that market.
