Spend almost as much time trying to clean/renovate our teak deck as we do sailing. Wouldn't want to do without it though - looks good and its comfortable under foot. We like it so much we're considering replacing it with a new one.

Go for it.

I,ve got a Maxi 1100 with a blue hull. Yes it does show every mark and Gawd knows I've put a few on it. I shied away from teak decks as I didn't fancy the maintenance. If you really like the look of both then go for them as it's a great look.

Can I add my pennyworth? My Benn 411 has a blue hull and teak decks. She was commissioned in August 2000 and I bought her in Feb 2003. The main teak decks are silver grey still but I have treated the cockpit teak to the Onward Trading 3 part potion. It looks great and I plan to do the main decks as soon as the weather allows. The hull still looks fine though I have had to have a charter boat inflicted ding sorted out by the Elephant boatyard. The colour matching was hard though they eventualy got a very close aproximation. If you are anywhere near Hamble, send me a PM for details if you want to have a look. Personally, I still like the looks and think it worth the extra expenditure

The Dark blue hull on my grp boat now needs painting.

As its 24 years old and had a hard life not bad really.

I think what really makes a boat is coloured sails.Dark blue hull with light blue sails would look amazing.

If you like it go for it.

I've just remembered that the other benefit of a blue hull is that the Coastguard and RNLI recommend it! as it is really difficult to see a white boat at sea especially when the water is starting to go white in a bit of blow. I read somewhere recenty that they suggest at least a decent size stripe, if not a full coloured hull.
