Blipper radar reflector

I have just taken the Blipper off the mizzen mast to try to clean it. It seems to be two tone - grubby and very grubby, which makes me think it may have been painted by the maker in a sort of wavey patten.. in short will it be okay to paint it - will the paint affect the reflection at all?

I dont recollect that they were painted, but if done to an original spec would be special paint designed to not interfere with the passage of the Rf. (i.e. similar to that used on satellite domes on ships)

never seen a painted blipper. mine-1989/2003 are both white plastic
