The photies however are another story and certainly weren't taken fifty years ago or even on the same occasion, I fear. Two different parties, helmets, harnesses, kernmantel ropes, and chalkbags would date those pictures as from no earlier than about the late 80s. I think we should be told the full story.
Hate to correct a fellow Rival owner, but surely all those things bar chalk were widespread by the early 70s? Chalk and kernmantle both date from the fifties, although weren't common until much later (chalk especially); Whillans' harness was maybe late 60s and helmets earlier still. It's the clear blue sky in Snowdonia that really calls the photos' accuracy into question
And well done oldbilbo for your classic climb, even if it gives a whole new meaning to the concept of exposure. My first climbing instructor was a chap named J Brown, so the Corner has a special resonance.
P.S. Not quite the Corner, but next door, you might be interested in this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=O6CTK2hFvrw
