The spray blasting over Ardrishaig lighthouse is denser and higher than it has ever been in the 16 years we have lived here, the A83 is awash at Invereraray and closed just south of Ardishaig by the rocks carried up from the shore by the waves, but the strangest thing I have noticed is on AIS.
Superfast 10 went from Dublin to Holyhead earlier but instead of returning, set off northward on the return journey, giving her destination as Belfast, but she is now well north of that approaching Torr Head. Surely she might have found shelter further south.
Not much else moving around here just now, one ship heading for Port Ellen is away up Loch Linnhe.

Currently on the Western Ferry going to Gourock. The wind is howling and the main deck is awash.

Just as long as you don't finish up in Arrochar.
Phew! Made it. I use the ferry quite a lot but I'm not sure I can remember driving of the ferry ramp downhill. The tide this afternoon isn't going to get away and you felt the ferry was sitting above the car park at McInroys Point.

Spring tides and a very low pressure makes for interesting conditions. I was down on my boat today and at HW the water was lapping just under the fixed pontoon, luckily the wind was blowing me off. To get off the boat I had to step down onto the top of a bollard then jump down to the pontoon. Hard work at my age!

Superfast 10 has reversed course in mid channel between Torr Head and The Mull Of Kintyre retracing her course southward, it looks as if she might decide to shelter in Belfast Lough this time. Free extra trip from Fishguard up and down the North Channel in the most interesting conditions imaginable for all the passengers. Meanwhile every other ferry decided it might be less bother to stay in port.
