Well I'm a happy chap today, renewal came through from Mardon for £444, a healthy £50 less than last year. Thought I'd see what you guys suggested in the past so a quick search suggested I should try craftinsure, Bishop Skinner and legal and general (i think!)

Anyway Craftinsure weren't much less and had quite a high Excess + didn't seem to like toys/Ski's being towed. Gave Bishop Skinner a ring, told him I had 3 years NCB and answered all the normal Q's replay was £379 including 15% NCD /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I was happy with that, they cover the towing of toys/ski's excess £200 (not doubled up for underwater!!) was just getting a card to pay when I noticed my renewal mentioned I got a 20% NCD mentioned this to Bishop SKinner and price dropped to £355 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

As if that wasn't good enough the cherry on top was they had a bit of a backlog so don't panic if my card isn't charged for a while /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'll join you on this post Chas,

I run a Sail and Power RYA training school, I have been with K.C. Powell for years, for the school boats and our own yachts and Power craft.

Well I had an inspection by THE John Mendez, and it was mentioned that I give B.S. a bell, well,

Our new RIB, Time Flies, 6.3m, with a Yamie 115 on its bum, was nearly £200 cheaper!!!! for training and corp charter!!

Still awaiting the paper work to be sent through after two phone calls now though! But they seem great!

Al.

Just to add a coment about Bishop Skinner - I had to claim for a new windscreen last year from BS and they were excellent. Agreed in principal in a couple of days and agreed the quote - £1300 less excess almost by return and paid up as soon as I sent the invoice. I've lost my NCB but really happy and have renewed with them for this year

I trust you have Brest to Elbe limits and 12 months in commission................if so then I am probably as unhappy having renewed with Mardon as you are going elsewhere!

[/ QUOTE ]

Definitely got Brest - Elbe, they didn't ask how many months in commission, will check the policy when it turns up, if there are any problems it can be cancelled!

Are you past the point of cancelling and going elsewhere??

Yep, Bishop Skinner definitely get my vote as well. We've been with 'em for many years and the only claim I had was dealt with via two emails and three phone calls. Excellent service.

Bill Southgate is a super chap to deal with too.

I am with BS and can confirm they cover for 12 months in commission, with the Brest to Elbe limits - is that outside Poole Harbour???
I think they also cover the Cobb BBQ so you will be OK!!!

just outside Poole Harbour - but if I get lost I can make either on a single tank though so seems a sensible limit!

I'll second all that. I've been with BS for many years and they've handled a couple of claims very diligently and the premiums are always competitive
