Birchwood 370 Commando

42 knots! Wow... isn't that faster than a Hunton 43 with the same engines? Not disputing your findings, just impressed/surprised that the Birchwood can outdo a narrower (I expect) hull.

Perhaps this is how they did it...

"Birchwood 370

LOA: 37 ft 1 in Beam: 12 ft 4 in Draft: 3 ft 1 in "

Most powerful Kad 300s' I've heard of! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Still looks like a nice boat though and not too dated. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

seems a lot of boat for the money, at about £60k that is, 70 -75 stretching it.

The teardrop windows do work in my opinion, though they definately didnt on the larger 51 ..................... yuk

It's probably is stretching it a bit, but with 2 x Kad300s' it's not gonna be slow. I would expect high 30s' in flat conditions and clean.

Which lets face it is a good performance. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Wish you'd keep quiet about this one, I had it down on my list as my next quirky but cheap buy, one of those unknown boats with the wrong badge and image but actualy rather good. Its a Targa 37 or S37 equivalent for half the price, but don't tell everybody or the prices will go up /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Having seen spitfire's informed post it's easy to see the attraction of this boat. The only bit I dont like (just imho, each to his own) is the window shape. But jrb you could mod that by making grp panels in matched gelcoat and bonding them over the glass on the outside, with matched plywood (covered in vinyl, or something) on the inside. Here are before and after shots. (Would also look good with a black or dark painted hull -I'm not a fan of the knuckle and dark paint would mask it- but I don't have time to photoshop that in right now!)

Looks much more Fairliney - Targa 37ish. Quite an improvement, although I'm a bit biased too.

My (ex) neighbours had a 370 Commando (he was almost blind & she was noisy - so noisy we couldn't sleep, so we moved further down the pontoon) . I thought it had 300 Yanmars fitted. I reckon they had it on the market for about 3-4 years, before it sold.

And that would worry me if I owned one.

the boat with yanmars had a straight through exhaust system fitted, the only one i think sold by brokers in hayling island .
the tear drop did work very well if you moored port side to and you could see the pontoon or lock side from the helm.

don`t knock until you moor it !!
