Biminis??

Many years ago I stole a Martini Extra Dry umbrella from a beach bar in Corsica. Did brilliantly as a bimini, the main problem was the pole, which was made of steel and the only place in cockpit to attach the thing was the compass binnacle /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

On our Atlantic Circuit we didn't have a bimini. Can't fit one on a Contessa 33. We did have a full length awning, using the spinnaker poles as stretchers. OK it was bit of a pain to rig and strike but it could stand 35kts without flapping and was excellent as a water catcher.

Thanks for this. We have an anchor awning (well an old tarpaulin, but SWMBO is remaking it as we speak in more aesthetically pleasing material!).

Funnily enough it was only yesterday I suggested we steel at Stella umbrella - I think the red and white would go well on our boat /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just found some on ebay for £13 that have a wooden pole - this could be a good answer. Still think a Stella one would look better /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
