At the moment my engine has been removed, it has been recommended that I remove the bilge tray that sits under the engine to stop oil leaks etc getting into the bilge. As I understand it it is only needed for river use. I don't have my boat on the river and can't make my mind up whether to remove it. Do any of you have a bilge tray and do you know what the legal stance is for river use.

Thanks,

RM.

well if you want oil in your bilge take it out....otherwise be sensible and use it to stop the oil getting into your bilge, and think about the rest of us who wish we had one......

Dont know what the legal stance is for rivers, but the drip tray under the engine is very useful, stops minor leaks/drips getting into the bilges in the first place, any leaks when changing filters etc. stays in the tray to be mopped up. It is illegal to discharge oily bilge in spain for sure and only common sense/courtesy anyway, keep the tray! oil/diesel in the bilges is a pig of a job to remove from every nook and cranny.
