Bilge pump arrangements

How many through hull fittings actually fail when the boat is in the water & when the owner is not fiddling with them? I had a leak but it was a split hose, not the through hull. I did have to replace a fitting to the heads outlet. However, that was the elbow coming off the seacock, Not the actual valve unit- Which I also replaced but found to be fine.

Bilge Pump outlets can be well above the water line.

My approach is 1 or 2 plumbed in. Usually a decent Rule or Jabasco model

The rest can be emergency deployable in the fashion previously described. The Seaflo type units more than adequate for this.
