Just wanted to say a big THANKYOU to everyones advice with regard to 'sprung plank' - especially Joe, Fatipa and Mirelle. I have 'pulled' the planking all back together now (damage was not as bad as it could have been) it has been rubbed down repainted and ready to go back in the water on Sat Nov 20th (what a great b'day pressie for me !!!) Just got to carry on rubbing down / varnishing the deck and coachhouse ... maybe next spring. Meanwhile I think I'll have a little sail, will also post a pic soon.
Also thanks to Classic Marine ( hope I'm allowed to name drop! ) they are a superb source of information and help.
