I am servicing my Beta 20 engine and the last bit is the fuel filter on the engine. It appears hard to reach and remove, any advice please.
Yeah - tried that but the boat is long keel and the engine is neatly tucked in, almost touching the hull so I couldn’t get my hand around it, only fingers and no room even for a chain wrench. It needed movingMy Beta filters are tucked round the side with space but hard to get good purchase on. I use one of these to start them moving. A lot neater than chisels or screwdrivers.View attachment 201900
Thanks, that does look interestingSimilar problem with Beta 14 - but found that a filter socket works - ie. one of these: https://gb.jbtools.com/lisle-61550-80mm-15-flutes-oil-filter-cup-wrench/
However, check the size - I have used 2 different ones depending on where the filters have come from - 80/15 and 74/15
Ordered the kit todayGet the Beta kit and move the filter to where it's easy to reach.
Imagine fuel contamination, and having to change it while at sea!!
Been there, done that.
I DO NOT WHAT TO REPEAT THE EXPERIENCE!!!

I fitted on about 10 years ago and it was very easy to fit and an absolute dream to maintain compared to the original arrangementPlease come back and tell us how easy (or otherwise) it is to fit with the engine slotted into the boat. It's bad enough changing the filter, I don't think I want to be doing anything fiddley down there.
Will do, I hope to fit this on SundayI fitted on about 10 years ago and it was very easy to fit and an absolute dream to maintain compared to the original arrangement
Or save a few pounds... Spin on FilterWhen I changed my filter from the engine I added a second so I have a course filter and a fine filter, also added a vacuum gauge so only need to change when they need changing. A bit of a job but well worth it. Good luck with it
Racor 215R10 Diesel Spin-On Fuel Filter
I also changed to the two micron filter.
Good luck with it.
