I am in the final stages of some deck repairs and have faired the surfaces with Interfill 830. This is slightly grainy and I'm not happy it will leave a smooth enough surface for 2 pack paint. Are there any recommendations for a smooth filler that will take out the last irregularities?

The old Plastic padding gel coat filler could be sanded and polished to a perfect finish, it may be under a different name now, it was perfect for filling drill holes and scratches.

International Watertite if you want prepackaged. However you can also mix your own with epoxy and a lightweight fairing filler. I have done both and for relatively small jobs Watertite is probably more convenient.

Hi-build (SP systems). Fairing filler.

You can add microballoons to it to thicken it and bulk it up if you have any significant dips to fill.

I have West resin and 407 so will give that a try first though I’ve never found it particularly easy to sand. Thanks all.

Mix some microlballoons in with it. It turns it into a thicker "paste" (thicken to taste), but makes it much easier to sand, and you also don't get solvent entrapment as much.

I find microballoons hard to sand. The best filler I have used for fine fairing was from Blue Gee but no doubt there are other brands. However still a fan of Watertite even though expensive if you are doing a large area.
