Boating Friends,

I am in the process of buying all the electronics gear for my new boat. It seems that the prices of electronics are about 30 - 40% lower in the UK than in Sweden, where I live.

Can any of you give some advice on what retailers (on-line and IRL) that have the best selection of Raymarine stuff and good prices?
Thnx

buy where you can get service even if it costs a bit more. Last year My sounder was faulty and sorted quickly. I wonder how it would have been remedied if I had purchased it from USA. I was even compensated for lift out.

That's a valid point. However, Raymarine has world wide warranty.

Anyways, I prefer to buy from a EU country. No risk of trouble with the customs.

imho Raymarine's worldwide warranty is excellent. I have lots of stuff bought in the UK, now in France. When it broke the local French Raymarine guy fixed it very quickly, excellent service. However you MUST fill in the warranty card and mail it back to Raymarine, else no effective warranty support

I agree, MES is a good reliable supplier

I thoroughly recommend Hutchins Marine Services +44 1628 810499 or email Dave at davehms@aol.com.

The first time I called them was just to ask a question. I wasn't buying anything. They helped me out with a techie query and then posted me a cable together with a wiring diagram that I needed - they dind't charge a thing because Dave had it laying around in his office. And Dave did that for someone who was not even an existing customer. Raymarine would have charged for the same cable. Since then I've found they also do a good price on electronics and continue to be very helpful. All our dealings have been through the post with no problems. A real gem among many marine suppliers who provide less service even when I'm spending more money.

As others have said, MES (Marine Electronic Services) are great. Good on price and you can ring them for advice on how to install etc. Bought a couple of things from them and been happy both times
