Hi
We took the plunge 2 years ago (for a liveaboard / cruising life )and are currently in Northern Spain.
Unfortunately family circumstances have changed and it looks like we will have to put our boat up for sale. Does anyone have any recommendations about where we should base the boat for sale - northern spain, portugal, france, uk. She is a british registered motorsailor (Robert Tucker Caleo 39)
Any advice will be greatly appreciated as we are now needing to prepare for the patter of tiny feet!

Boats tend to sell for more in the UK, Prices are generally higher. However as a result of this, if the boat is a good live-aboard then somebody looking to try the life in the area your boat is would be very tempted, so depending on how you're going to market it either place could be a good bet

A good friend had his Westerly Oceanlord on the market for almost 2 years, with it based in Corfu. Although it would seem to be an ideal place to start Med cruising there was very little interest - nobody seemed to be prepared to take a cheap trip over to view it. Last year he brought the boat back to the UK and sold it within 4 months.

Your friend would have sold it far quicker had he made firm arrangements for prospective buyers to see it.
I must have contacted him three or four times two years ago to try to view the boat ( I was only in Preveza) at the time and each time he made some excuse that it wasn`t convenient etc I gave up and bought a boat iN Malta a month later!!
