Best Place To Buy Charts Of Northern Europe?

Planning on exploring Sweden/Norway this summer. I've only purchased UK charts in the past. What is the best place to buy non-UK charts from?

Norwegian charts are incredibly expensive if you need coverage of a large area. I would consider the necessary minimum of passage planning charts and electronic for the rest. Borrowing from forumites who have visited recently might be an option as well.

I don't fancy buying Navionics for the area just for a couple of weeks sailing. I normally use Admiralty leisure folio in the UK which just about fit on my chart table. Don't mind the size but am unsure about what scale to go for?

You said you were 'exploring Norway/Sweden'. That's pretty ambitious in two weeks!

We have oldish Swedish Vastkusten charts

Well not the whole of Norway and Sweden!

Have friends in Gothenburg so will be heading for there and doing a little exploring.

Hope to using them ourselves this summer, but get your friends to buy and send you a copy of 'Batturist' and the Batsportkort folio "Vastkusten", which covers Svinesund south down to Varberg, ie the Swedish western archiepelago, which starts around Varberg- a ferry port, or was.
Might cost a bit for delivery, but a lot of detailed charts, and you can lose a whole month easily cruising the coast up to the Norwegian border:)

You need at least 1:50 000 for exploring these coasts, larger even better.
If buying new paper charts, leisure folios are better economy than individual charts.
For your purpose, I would look at this:

Haven't used them myself, but they are a little less expensive than the "official" chartfolios
from Swedish/Norvegian authorities. These use 1:50 000 as a basic scale, but some areas (at least on the Swedish coast) are covered in 1:25 000. NV Verlag uses 1:40 000 as a basic scale.
For planning, charts for the Swedish and Norvegian coasts are available online, at this site:

Check the net for Båtsport sjökort, västkust. That'll give u from Sweden/Norway border down to Gothenburg..

I did Lillesand to Kristainsand via the magnificiently sheltered waters of the Blindleia once - a great trip. If you are only sailing for two weeks then a couple of folios of Batsportkart will probably do you.

Here's a reference key to the series of folios:

The folios are £59.95 each from here, but almost certainly a bit cheaper to buy when you get to Gotheburg
