If I decide to replace the sails on my bradwell 18, there are several tears on the genoa (from uv damage I think, and the mainsail is like an old carrier bag.

Grit your teeth, join Facebook and then a group called 'Yachts and Yachty Bits for Sale'. There may also be other groups such as 'dayboats' or 'Keelboats' that could yield results. Ebay of course. And always worth just calling local sailmakers and asking what they have tucked away. Think laterally. Get some dimensions from other boats and see what might fit. You might end up with something fabulous from a Dragon or something. Race boats often get new sails frequently and you could get a tasty laminated sail for not much money. And while talking to the local sailmaker ask her about prices for alterations. If you can get a crispy newish sail for say 100 quid, and spend another 100 on getting it adjusted, you will have a result and a good sail
