Berthon's Lymington Marina

Another disadvantage not so far mentioned is that there is no catering on site. Of course there are plenty of pubs and restaurants a short distance away in Lymington (and now a cafe that backs on to the marina), but I always thought Berthons lacked the social focus that on-site catering provides in so many marinas.

As already mentioned, look out for the Marina Manager - a tall bloke, probably smoking a poisonous-smelling small cigar. He is the soul of generosity and will buy you drinks all day. :D

I have only just picked up on this thread - not being a MoBo reader very often. Occasionally I search on 'Berthon' just to see what is being said!

Andrew - we are looking forward to you being in the marina
BJB - you will never outstay your welcome for the reasons that concern you, don't even worry about it.
Aigua - I dont know you, give me a call if there is anything more you would like to discuss.
ARA - ditto
jhr - happy to buy the drinks all day, just send me your credit card

as a lowly forumite, I dont wish to discuss on here the company policy regarding work on boats - except to say that it has its benefits, too.

On a personal note, anybody visiting the marina, please do say 'hi' !

I used to keep Play d'eau there when I had a Princess V39. Great yard, really friendly, and Dave Street (if he's still there) was superb yard manager (?) in charge of estimating and supervising any work to be done on a boat.

Been back there many times as a visitor. Love the location.

Been in there a few times, once after a transat, showers most welcome !

Another, went in to do some food shopping, only there a couple of hours, suffice to say, a good place for a short stopover.

Watch the ferry

Looks like we will be moving to Berthons in April of next year. Any comments/suggestions/ things we should know about will be very welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Andrew
Not sure why this has popped to the top of the list again but all the above is good stuff. My added point is to watch out for the new mega ferries. The best trick is to hang off the entrance and wait for one and follow it in as it snowploughs a path for you. Then be very careful going past it as it docks. They tend not to use warps - just keep a very powerful thruster running and I have been swept sideways by it - very scary.
