Beneteau Antares 30 questions

Hi Anders,
I have finally managed to upload some photos of my Inverter set up. The inverter can be seen mounted Stbd side up out of the way under the helm station. I have fitted an isolator and Mega Fuse in line so that it will give better access to change fuses if reqd. The battery tray with the 4x AGM batteries(140 AH) has them on top of each other and makes for quite a tidy installation. I mounted the remote panel just above the 12v power outlet at the helm station but forgot to take a photo. You can see how I have set it up in the Lazarette also. I just have to reach down and select Shore or Inverter on the box on the right. The same RCD Breaker is utilsed downstream of this. I did need to fix a larger marine ply mounting panel for this. All left to do now is earth bond the inverter chassis to the engine and sort out a new 3 outlet MCB under the helm station so that the battery charger supply can be isolated when on inverter power. It will then be ready to connect the 2 x battery leads and off we go (hopefully). I also got rid of the useless space robbing bin from the galley cupboard and made myself a shelf which has increased the available storage no end. I will keep you posted and post more photos once I have fitted my cockpit table and LED's.

Nice job Dinks, wish I had the DIY skills for my own installation.

I noticed you went AGM batteries, have you re-configured the Victron for them? What make are they?

The bin mod looks a good idea, have you installed a smaller bin else where?

Edit: something like this on lower right cupboard to stern?

Hi Anders,
The AGM batteries were from Ebay and cost less than 200 quid a piece with warranty etc.etc. I haven't re-configured my charger or inverter yet but it is an easy job all done with dip switches on the control panels. For the bin I just do what I did with my last boat and hang a carrier bag over the throttle lever and decant this into a pedal bin liner stuffed into the cockpit door at the stern. Keeps any smells out of the boat. My bin is mainly filled with empty beer cans and wine bottles anyhow.!!!

Sorry I missed your reply. Yes dip switches set up charging volts, wanted to check you were aware of that. I've been researching batteries some more over past few weeks, think I'm going to fit 2 x Trojan T-145 golf cart batteries that will give 260Ah on C20. They cost £320 a pair, but take some abuse from the reports on here and other forums.

Quick update on my boat, I went to the Beneteau factory Yesterday

I'd like to thank Lee at Tingdene Boat Sales for organising the trip and Beneteau for their hostpitality and tour of the factory. It was so interesting to see the Antares30 on production line from bare hull mould through to finished boat. A lot of man hours go in to our boats...or should I say women hours (as mostly ladies working on the hull production line).

We walked on to the main assembly line where engine goes in and the boat built around it. So many steps to the whole process and great to see things like hot water tank, sewage tank and pipework in plain view before top half of boat is lowered on.

Boats go in to indoor swimming pools for leak / shower test before going outside in queue for QC. My boat was parked outside:

Here's the additional forward hand rails to port and starboard I requested, looks oem fit of course

Stern gear looking as clean as it ever will, but hoping the Force4 TK line spray will help keep the barnacles away

Osmotech needed measurement between prop and p-bracket for Quickutter install...that'll be one Sony K800i wide.

Hoping for delivery 7th / 9th / June if boat shipper can find a slot.

What a great break away!
Are these photos after the swimming pool, and now pressure test? Is the internal cabinetry fitted at this point?
What is the SS though hull on The Starboard side , is it something to do with the heating?
Wondering what all the old fenders are doing laying around?

Enjoyed every minute, great to walk around factory then see my boat complete outside.

The photos are after swimming pool and leak test. All internal woodwork fitted before the top half of boat lowered on!

Yes, SS though hull to port side is Webasto heating exhaust. Need to remember not to hang fender here.

Not sure about the fenders, there's no pool outside...only the pooring rain.

Exciting day, boat delivered to Osmotech at Hamble Point. Thanks to Simon at www.boat-shift.com for delivering on schedule and boat in one piece and to the lads at boat yard for offloading.

So it's over to Mike and his team at Osmotech for copper coat, stern thruster, Victron Multiplus, BVM602, TV etc and David at Hudson marine for Radar, fish finder, flybridge MFD and then Avanced Marine Decking for the Flexi-teek install.

I'd also like to thank Tingdene Boat Sales, who have been excellent to deal with through the whole process and Lee for organising the factory visit.
