Went over to Bembridge from Portsmouth on Monday for lunch, and was pleasantly suprised.
The visitors pontooon is now connected to land. It has been extended and has a walkway to land, near the Hovercraft engineering place.
In the next 2 weeks it will have both electricity, water and be dredged.
It is now being operated by the " Bembridge Harbour Redevelopment Co.", who have a little hut at the end of the gangway, where tickets and fancy booklets are being dished out.
It makes a pleasant change, as there is more space, and you can easily get to areas of the coast that were a major hike before.
I like Bembridge, but it was a little spoilt with at least 8 large powerfull RIBS there, almost like a rally. They are a strange lot those Ribbers!
A short stay cost £5, which was not size dependant. I am not sure what the new overnight charges will be. They will of course be more expensive than last year.
Anyway I think the changes are for the better.
