Before committing to

I'm going to use it for completely the opposite reason. We dry sail our boat in the Med so it spends more time out of the water than in it. Normal antifoul does not like being out of the water but coppercoat is quite happy with it. The theory is we just arrive and have the boat launched, end of having to sort out a/foul before the launch!

asked at LBS.. I reckon by the time the boat is stripped back, and coated, its about three times the cost of the actual coating, all in all.

excellent..and we are in the same stretch of water... I ll be round /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've had coppercoat for 3 years and so far it's been as good as, if not better than antifoul with the benefit of not having to re do it every year.

You need to give it a fine rub with wet and dry once a year to re agitate it but this can be easily done in half hour on a warm summers day with the boat anchored in a shallow bay, walk around in the water giving a gentle rub.

I recommend it.

We're into our second season with it and think it's very good and effective. We had it put on at the end of our first season, the hull was taken back and the old antifoul removed by sand blasting. The coat also help to protect the hull from osmosis as it contains epoxy. All the initial outlay was quite expensive, over 10 years or so it more than pays for itself, plus it saves on saves on fuel cost and the all that annual painting agro.
