Really sorry to have to let you know that Duncan and I are back in Devon...
We left on schedule at 6:30 this morning and ambled up the M5, M6, M56 and A55 - approx 315 of the 320 miles to the A487 (less than half a mile of the Caenarfon road roundabout) when the front prop shaft failed, battering the underside of the car and smashing the underside of the transmission casing! Coasted to a stop, recovered the debris field from the road and called the AA whilst the contents of the sump escaped into the verge. We've been recovered home arriving back on an AA recovery lorry a few minutes before midnight and the boat and car now back in the driveway pending detailed assessment tomorrow. Still can't believe we got within a stone's throw and had to bail out after all the planning etc.
Gutted we didn't make it and will miss the event and meeting everyone after waiting and looking forward to for so long...
Steve, please PM me your address or that of the club and a contact there and I will send the cash to cover the meals.
Apologies once again - we'll certainly try again for the next one!

Were really devastated to hear about your episode RB. The weather was **** and the Gig trip was deferred, but Kwakers took 4 of us for a blast anyway. He was wearing a bump hat and visor, but the rest of us just huddled behind him.
The meal was lovely and we managed a final turnout of 29, with Dill Et Bound travelling furthest from Guernsey.
