Beer & Natter Cymraeg

we are keen me and my mate on the gig ,with rum and the wench and er mate on qwak

Excellent! I really fancy a go in a gig too. I've watched 'em training & seen how they leap forward when everyone pulls together. I was trained on a Naval Whaler in the early 60's & that used to move pretty good even with five skinny kids pulling on the oars & despite the thing weighing a ton.

HI TSB i rang mark to book a berth at vicky dock for 25 th april and mentioned bruce,k might want a berth and he asked me if you would give him a call if you had any numbers for berths ,i may have it wrong that you are organizing berths if not i dont mind doing it its just so we all get in ,weather permitting, roy

Don't Panic Roy! Plenty of time for the whole plan to go tuts up especially weatherwise!

Plan was to meet Mark this weekend

So Far viccy dock possible B&N attendees are as follows:
Seastoke
Danfarry
Bigwow
Dave Jackson Skylark
TSB240 Bluenote II
I think Siaban(Philiz) and Nautibelle are too tight to leave PD and are coming by road!
If there are any others either get them to PM me or post on here and I will get them pencilled in.

Steve

Count me in please I'll be tailing either Seastoke or Danfarry in for my first venture through the Swellies.

.......................for my first venture through the Swellies.

I drove over the Menai Bridge by car yesterday and it must have been around LW. There are some pretty big tides around at the moment. Both Swelly and Cribbin Rocks looked huge and frighteningly close to shore. I've been through many times but the sight of the rocks at LW is very sobering!

Thing is you would very rarely actually go through at Low water especially springs as slack water is 2 HOURS difference so at least a metre or more of water depth!

Speak for yourself!
:p

qwak was about when they built the brit bridge and they buitt a dam either side and he walked through with a rubber ring around is arse still the same now .by the way my mate how are you ,i can give you your compass back at beer n natter.

Why do that? He told me he can do the swellies at 50mph blindfolded. How's he going to read a compass blindfolded?!

Bruce, I'm sorry, but the meal at the Royal Welsh has been oversubscribed. I have no doubt you can get in for a bevvy or three, but it isn't possible to increase the number of diners (we already have 37 who booked earlier).

There will be plenty going on though, as Kwacker is running a few trips & the RWYC rowing section have offered a go in Celtic Gig for those who fancy trying something very different from what we normally experience on the water.

Searush, I was aware that I'd have to peer through the windows with my pauper bowl at the ready. I'd just like to come along for the ride, meet some great people and support a great cause. I'll challenge Kwak to his fight if he promises to be gentle and will probably take the kids out on any of the available jaunts. I'll leave the rowing to my peers who are fitter and more capable. As an old / ex coxwain I've had my fill of being clobbered by the oars when I get it all wrong or uncermoniously dumped in the river when I get it right.

Thanks for letting me know, of course we'd be delighted for you to join in the general merriment.

You may find the Gig crews are more like us than you think, they certainly bear little resemblance to yer average University 8 crews.

Just sat by the shore of Lake Iseo in Italy catching up (as you do) with my social diary. Being retired is such hard work:cool:

The Internet is a bit scrappy here but scanning through the posts it seems that those of us travelling in Motorhomes will be staying on a lorry park - is that correct?

Can someone let let me have a postcode of somewhere nearby please.

Kwaks - save us a couple of seats for the run out in the rib

Really looking forward to it

May

May,
This is the Google maps reference for the free long stay car park, it is just to seaward of Morrison's supermarket as you enter Caernarfon from the east, or just east of the Victoria Dock if you prefer. 53.145781, -4.272172

Street View; https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place...2!3m1!1s0x486507d8cbc40c9b:0x5290354d5ab04139

If you can see the street view you will see a school bus, some cars & an MH there. There are other car parks, but you will need to keep running back to pop a new paid for ticket on the van.

Three weeks tomorrow morning we'll be setting out to foreign lands with funny road signs, my passport has expired, what's border control like in the land of the Red Dragon? according to google and sat nav five and a half hours of tarmac, traffic dependant, hoping to arrive near 1400 and some where to find lunch!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.

Quote from the CDH (Local weekly paper).

"Gwynedd Council say that the car park near Morissons in Caernarfon will become a pay and display car park from April onwards"

Whoa - that could be a PITA for a few of us, would it be possible for someone to find out how much it costs, and whether we'll still be allowed to overnight?
