The boat is inland on the Shannon but Howth is where I live. Howth Yacht Clubs marina is good, accessible at all state of tide for motorboats. Diesel is available along with the usual facilities. Most importantly, there is a good bar which welcomes visitors. The club is busy, mostly with sailing but its lively, busy and fun. I would advise contacting the Marina Office before travelling, contact details are at www.hyc.ie
As for Howth itself, its 40min from Dublin city centre by bus or commuter train. Someone mentioned Golf clubs, locally there are two and one (Deerpark) offers very reasonable pay for play. Nice walks/views from both courses. In normal times we are spoiled with places to eat and drink. Weekends can be very busy if the weather is nice, weekdays less so. There are nice cliff and mountain walks with great views of Dublin Bay, another option is an offroad ebike tour which is great craic actually and not nearly as perilous as it sounds. All in all its a bit of a playground - a very good option for a p1ss up or to explore locally or for a foray into Dublin.
Other options are Malahide to the north and Dun Laoghaire to the south. Both have good marinas and bus and rail commuter links to Dublin, both are decent places to visit but I think Howth is better (obviously!) as there's more to do.
Not sure how realistic this all might be this summer however - we are under a strict lockdown at the moment obviously. Seems to be getting better but they have upped restrictions on people visiting the state. Things might change, they are talking about a two island approach to quarantine for UK and Ireland which I think has merit but its in the lap of the gods at the moment.
