Beaching

Some boats may be bow-heavy, and will need weight moving aft or a bow prop as well. The last time my boat was in slings and being put in a cradle I progressively let the weight off the forward slings to see what would happen - when it started to tip I tightened them up again very quickly!

I would want to get a lot of practice drying against a wall first before I tried legs

If anyone in the Southwest wants to help with an experiment, I intend to give this a go on the marina slip when the tides are next right - middle of next week I think. My plan to be on the safe side was to attach the legs whilst alongside the wall, then nudge forward whilst holding a boathooks length off the wall. Admittedly, the keel is the better part of 8 inches wide at the bottom on my boat, but better safe than sorry. Offers of help greatly appreciated.

Btw: "yacht legs" seems to be the only company actually producing beaching legs. Reckon they're very well made but not exactly cheap. Are there any alternatives where to get some? How about a DIY project or having some custom made?

Thanks but since my boat has a lot of freeboard they'd be far too long. I'll need some kind of telescopic design.

I saw a French boat which had one tube inside another. The outer tube had the hull attachment, and the sliding inner had several holes, and was fixed with a pin at the appropriate height.
