Doesn't surprise me at all. I saw three absolute bombshells on the sand at Ventnor last July.

Actually, off Ventnor, there is a very deep ordnance dump...nothing likely to come ashore from there, but then, where may the Calshot stuff be coming from? Who'd have thought low tide and wave action would upset an MOD dump? Where may be affected next?
There is a big hole just off the RNLI jetty at Calshot with the remains of a flying boat stunk deep into the mud and it is thick oozy mud. Imagine what else they chucked in there at the end of WW2.
Not quite Ventnor but further round to Sandown is the wreck of the SS Luis, still with brass shells on board which makes her a popular dive site.
