Bavarias keel falls off..

You don't understand Hungarian ? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

At least I think it may be Hungarian. : /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

What do you reckon the second hand value of a bavaria match 42 is at the moment?

If I was in Bavaria management I would be falling on my sword

it hungarian..sorry dont have an english translation, but it was a match 42, the company in Hungary that owned twenty of them apparently checked out the keel bolt-on arrangement on all 20 boats and found the same thing..anyway thats what a hungarian translator told me on the boatdesign.net forum.

Well..I guess thats one boat to cross of my list of boats to buy..

This is absolutely shocking, to think this is the same on the Hungarian companies 20 Match 42 yachts!

I was asking the Bav rep about just this type of thing at SIBS... "It'll never happen" he said "the one time it did happen was because they ran aground so it was their fault".

I'll never buy a Bavaria - EVER!

I just hope nobody was hurt.

In my opinion it's the lamainate that's at fault. It appears that the fiberglass connecting the bottom to the structural grid is not thick enough and the radious too tight.Maybe the laminate at the bottom area was also too thin. The plate washers seem to be adequately sized.IMHO of course.

Think that's the one that was posted on sb and pbo recently one of which is
here

Also Bavaria has something on their website about it here with the link to the original new report

Doesn't seem to be quite as clear on what happened as the original post led to believe

Did anyone see this one?

Think a Des Sleightholme test required to see how mine fair is in order!

There was also an image of a chain plate which had been ripped off the deck, you get what you pay for I guess!

This was well covered (in English) in YW only a few months ago. Bav have issued a technical modification for the Match series keels.

apparently the bolts and plate were underengineered..

There has been no suggestion by any informed party to this incident that the keel bolts failed.
