Good morning,I'm trying to replace the Selden 510-105 mast base on my Bavaria 35 Holiday and I have a question.
Are the screws that fix the base of the mast attached to any plate or nut?To remove them, do I have to access that nut?If I remove them, will this plate or nut come out of position?Who has experience in this field?Does anyone know the design of the interior fixing of the mast base?Thank you very much!

Welcome

Pretty sure that like most deck fittings on Bavarias the screws will go into a threaded aluminium plate bonded into the deck moulding. May well be difficult to shift because of corrosion between the screws and the aluminium.

When I peeked into the roof of the cabin I found this metallic looking and sounding piece on top of the mast support. (green circle).
Is this the piece you are referring to?
I actually tried to loosen the screws but I didn't even feel it move...
1. What solutions will there be?
2. Is it possible to remove this part? and replace or a new one?
3. Is it something Selden or is it specific to Bavaria?
4. Maybe open wider threads?
Thank you very much!

Even to remove the mainsheet traveller screws on a Bavaria track is a job for someone with hours on their hands due to corrosion and a lack of any duralac applied in factory. As said by Mr T above a hard job. I never removed the plate on our mast but you might have to drill out based on advice I had when removing track parts . but surely a call to selden might help or asking on Bavaria owners site ? I used hot water but it it might not work on a plate for mast .

If you can't see nuts on the inside (did you look under that unvarnished plywood piece?), they're threaded into a glassed in aluminium plate, which by now is likely to have a good grip on the stainless bolts. Work slowly, with release penetrant over night, impact driver, well fitting bit and patience. If you break them, you'll have to make new holes and cut threads in, in sufficiently offset positions, which means either shifting the mast position or putting matching holes in the new mast foot.

Selden will remember nothing about a boat this old, we've tried with newer models and they didn't. There's a few Holiday owners on bavariayacht.org that might know something.
