The contacts in night vision goggles have got a kind of copper deposit on them.Pain to get to where the aa batteries go but is there anything i could put on a cotton bud to clean it?

Not so much a help in cleaning, but afterwords to prevent re-occurrence I would suggest putting on a smear of Vaseline. I tend to apply this to electrical contacts of all new gear and find it makes a big difference,.

you have to neutralise the acid or alkali which is causing the corrosion. It's just like anodes on a boat - the weakest bits get eaten away.

A bit of distilled water on a cotton bud, followed by a bit of glasspaper to remove all corrosion products, then vaseline.

PTFE is normally regarded as an isolating medium, and will just allow corrosion to go on under a layer of the gunk.

Best done properly: good NVG stuff is valuable. Only use the best batteries.
